The Department
The Emergency Department at CMH has full Department status with our chief sitting on the The ED at Columbia Memorial Hospital has 33,000 annual visits. The ED is a full Medical Staff Department; the Chief of Emergency Medicine is a member of the Medical Executive Committee. The ED serves as Medical Control for the ALS agencies in the region. We have an excellent Electronic Medical Record and an outstanding Quality Improvement Program.

The Practice
1. Our Group consists of eight Board Certified emergency physicians and five full time physician assistants. 2.We have flexible scheduling to ensure that everyone gets the number of shifts and type of schedule that best fits their lifestyle. 3.Craig Stanger, MD is Chief of our Department. 4.We have monthly Department, Quality Management and Corporate meetings. 5.Operational and policy decisions are made by the group. 6.We have an RVU based profit sharing program. 7.We have a sophisticated Quality Improvement Program allowing us to focus our management expertise and educational programs. 8.We share the QI data to improve our practice and we do this in ways which are helpful and fun, such as x-ray and ECG “stump the dummy” quizzes, M&M presentations, clinical case reviews, Journal Clubs and Grand Rounds.

The Position
Seeing over 35,000 patients per year and growing, Columbia Memorial Hospital is seeking qualified physicians to staff this state-of-the-art community facility. Situated in the beautiful Hudson Valley of New York and surrounded by the Catskill Mountains, this hospital sits in the cradle of our nation. The Emergency Department will have 56 hours of provider coverage daily. This coverage will include 40 hours of physician coverage and 16 hours of mid level provider, either physician assistant or nurse practitioner coverage. There will be a fast track open 12 hours a day which will be covered by the mid level providers. The Emergency Department has been recently renovated and is undergoing further renovation within the next six months. The hospital has also recently signed a contract with a vendor to implement an electronic medical records system, tracking board, computerized physician order entry and computerized discharge instructions. This will be implemented during 2007. This position has an excellent compensation package and includes an incentive bonus program for all of the physicians in mid level providers.

Requirements
Applicants must be Board Certified or Board Eligible in Emergency Medicine or Board Certified or Board Eligible in Internal Medicine, Family Practice or Surgery and have substantial experience in Emergency Medicine.
